Lillydale Estate

Lillydale Estate was established in '76 by Alex White and Martin Grinbergs, fugitives from Carlton & United Breweries, where they were scientists. They were at the forefront of the development of Yarra Valley chardonnay style in the early ’80s, but in ’94 the winery, the brand and vineyards were acquired by McWilliam’s. The current owners, Lulu Chang and Justin Zeng, who purchased the property in '12, have invested in restoring the vineyards with a focus on producing fine examples of Upper Yarra pinot noir. -JAMES HALLIDAY
