Our Review
Elgo Estate, owned by the Taresch family, is located high in the hills of the Strathbogie Ranges, 125km northeast of Melbourne, a stone’s throw from the southern end of the Heathcote region. Elgo Estate is committed to sustainable viticulture reflecting and expressing the characteristics of this cool-climate region. Two distinct wine portfolios via the Allira and Elgo Estate labels are produced. The wines are 100% estate-grown from their 2 vineyards in the region, with plantings dating back to the early 1970s. In ’12 Elgo purchased the Mount Helen Vineyard from Robert Kirby. Exports to China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
