Michelini Wines

Victoria | Alpine Valleys

Our Review

The Michelini family are among the best-known grapegrowers of the Buckland Valley in northeast Victoria. Having migrated from Italy in 1949, they originally grew tobacco, diversifying into vineyards in ’82. The main vineyard, on terra rossa soil, is at an altitude of 300m, mostly with frontage to the Buckland River. The Devils Creek Vineyard was planted in ’91 on grafted rootstocks with merlot and chardonnay taking the lion’s share. A vineyard expansion program has seen the plantings reach 60ha. -JAMES HALLIDAY
