Our Review
In ’19, Barossa-born Ben Radford resigned from his role as winemaker and managing director at Rockford Wines (see separate listing) to establish the Stonegarden label on an existing, late 1850s-era vineyard of the same name near Springton. Stonegarden isn’t his first solo project – Ben made wine under his own Radford Wines label in the early ’00s, and before that, he’d spent over a decade working in France, Spain, Canada and South Africa – but once again made the leap when the opportunity to work with this specific site arose. The Stonegarden vineyard has for years supplied fruit under contract to Rockford and others, so Ben was well-acquainted with its quality. All Stonegarden wines are currently made with fruit from the Stonegarden vineyard, although Ben may incorporate fruit from his own Eden Valley vineyard in the future. -ANNA WEBSTER
