Our Review
This is a far-flung, export-oriented, business. It purchases a little over 620t of grapes each vintage, the lion's share (surprisingly) riesling (250t), followed by shiraz (200t) and chardonnay (50t); the remainder is made up of pinot noir, gewürztraminer, merlot, dolcetto and muscat gordo blanco. Ben Riggs makes Shoofly Shiraz and Chardonnay at Vintners McLaren Vale; Frisk Riesling and Prickly Riesling is made by Garry Wall at King Valley Wines. The bulk of exports go to the US, Canada, Ireland and Korea. -JAMES HALLIDAY
