Riggs & Wiggs

After many afternoons spent staring at the derelict, 130yo vats on the historic Cote d’Or vineyard in Pokolbin that Peter Wiggs acquired in 2014, he and neighbour Iain Riggs of Brokenwood fame (see separate listing) decided there was nothing else for it but to fix them up and make wine. Unsurprisingly, Peter’s extensive vineyard resources – including the Cote and Mangerton vineyards in the Hunter Valley, and Cullarin in Canberra – and Iain’s winemaking know-how is a foolproof combination. The inaugural release of six wines from the ’24 vintage – two each of semillon, chardonnay and shiraz – express site and show purity of fruit, and set the tone for future releases from this powerhouse pair. -ANNA WEBSTER
