Nothing beats bubbles for a special occasion. If you’re looking for some fizz for the festive season, this mix of small and large producers has something to suit any event (and at a range of price points, too). These are James Halliday’s top 2019 picks for Champagne.

The list that follows forms part of James Halliday’s 2019 Top 100.

“A field of 75 champagnes provided problems (of the best kind) in selection, especially with some very low prices for household names on one side, small family businesses in the centre, and deservedly relatively high prices for the great producers – compared to the prices for Burgundy or Bordeaux they are very cheap.”
