Mount Langi Ghiran's Langi Shiraz is still one of the greatest examples of cool-climate shiraz in Australia, even 41 years after its first vintage. That's clear to see with the 2022 vintage, released on September 1.
Halliday taster Jeni Port gave the 2022 Langi Shiraz 97 points, calling it “another top Langi built for ageing but so, so easy to love right now.”

“At Langi, the site itself dictates the style – it’s timeless," says winemaker Adam Louder. Since the first vines were planted in 1969, styles have shifted across Australia, yet the premium cool-climate shiraz from Langi has always spoken with such clarity and complexity that the house style has endured.
“For me, it comes down to knowing when to pick and handling the fruit as gently as possible in the winery – that’s what allows the vineyard to shine. After 18 years working at Mount Langi, I’ve learnt how to capture both the essence of the site and the individuality of each season, which is why Langi remains a benchmark for cool-climate shiraz.”
“There is great opportunity in the Grampians," Adam adds. "I moved back here 12 years ago because I believe it is one of the best regions in the world to make cool-climate wine.
“There are untapped sites around the base of the mountains here. I think there is great potential for other Rhöne varieties like viognier, marsanne, mourvèdre and grenache.”
